The Food Standards Agency - UK The Food Standards Agency is an independent food safety watchdog set up by an Act of Parliament in 2000 to protect the public's health and consumer interests in relation to food. The main aim of the agency is to promote best practices in the food sector and help people identify healthy food and reduce food borne illness. FSA is accountable to Parliament through Health Ministers, and to the devolved administrations in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland for its activities within their areas.

FDA also ensures that these products are honestly, accurately and informatively represented to the public.
